Q. How should I create my graffiti tag?
A.
Tag graffiti represents the individualistic core of all graffiti artists. Many individuals stress over creating a new and never seen before tag, but in reality, it doesn’t necessarily need to be something never seen before. You don’t have to bend over backwards in order to invent a completely new way of creating a tag, because that would be nearly impossible. What you should do is get comfortable with a certain style. Tags can, and should be done quickly, just like a signature on a legal paper, and it should be done without the risk of being caught or identified (just in case).
Q. As a beginner, how do I choose the style of my artwork?
A.
The best way to get started is go check out some of the most popular graffiti art locations near you. Our website has a link to popular graffiti art areas in Atlanta. Check it out! Draw inspiration from the various types of styles you see and take the time to think about what you want your style to incorporate. Try not to copy other artists. Be original!
Q. How do I remove graffiti?
A.
We don't know why you would possibly want to remove graffiti, but just in case there are plenty of tools you can use. An inexpensive wire brush is excellent for removing paint from many surfaces. For surfaces like mailboxes, utility boxes, steel roll-up doors, lampposts, etc., liquid graffiti removal solvent (Savogram) is probably the best way to go. For a brick surface, we recommend a professional cleanup, using a biodegradable emulsifier. This method minimizes the toll on the surface. For routinely painted surfaces like fences and some wall, it would be wise to have plenty of matching paint available for immediate cover-up within a day or two of the appearance of graffiti.
Q. Where is it legal to graffiti in Atlanta?
A.
It is legal to graffiti at Buford Highway Walk, Arizona Avenue and along the Atlanta BeltLine.
Q. Are there any groups that I can join that promote street art or graffiti in Atlanta?
A.
There is an organization called Living Walls that "creates intentional, thought-provoking public art to inspire social change and activate public spaces." Living Walls has facilitated the creation of over 100 public murals in Atlanta, and it holds conferences attended by thousands of artists every year. There are many easy ways to contact or volunteer with Living Walls. Check out their website for more information.
Q. Graffiti: Art or Vandalism?
A.
These days when people talk about graffiti, they usually think of it with some negative connotation. Some individuals may even consider it to be some form of vandalism and destruction. However, there is a difference between art and vandalism, and when it comes to graffiti, it should be split into two different terms. We use "Graffiti Art" to describe a beautiful or creative mural (such as the ones on this site). Graffiti is art. It's a work of art that was pieced together by a talented individual using spray cans. Tagging (different from a tag as defined in the glossary) is on the other hand, vandalism. "Eddie Wuz Here" on the back of a bus seat is not graffiti and it's not art; it is simply vandalism.

Montana
- Montana has featured a new design and formula that gives incredible control, more pressure than a Mtn 94, less likely to clog and an amazing flexibility. The new and specially developed low pressure system provides expert results and great accuracy. Very fast drying, high covering spray paint in many matte finish colors.
- The Mtn 94 (Montana) is a synthetic based acrylic spray paint that has a very low pressure system that can be released at alternate pressures allowing for incredible control with second to none coverage. The paint dries incredibly fast with a matte finish and the supplied standard cap that is great for detail work. Unfortunately, the low pressure nature of the can may sometimes lead to clogging.
- With the added pressure these cans can create lines from as small as 0.5cm all the way up to 30 cm using different caps. More colors is always better and with this range you’re looking at the largest and most comprehensive range of colors at over 250 different shades.
